It's Andy again this week! As of next week Glenn and I will be taking turns to do this article to make a nice change for you all! Another week has passed and I’m not sure where it has gone. It seems to have flown by but like they say, "Time flies when you’re enjoying yourself!" So I must be having fun!
Now with February out the way let’s hope the weather is changing for the better and we will be seeing you all out on the course and up the club a lot more! (It’s been that bad I’m still saying happy New Year to a few people!) We have been getting busier in the shop and more people are using the course so let’s hope it continues.
The past couple of days we have been getting boxes delivered with all the new spring/summer clothing ranges. As many of you know, I love my golf clothes (generally the bright green variety!), so I’ve been like a kid in a sweet shop! Ha ha. This spring/summer we will be stocking Lyle & Scott, FootJoy, Mizuno and Under Armour clothing, which will be out on display within the next few weeks. We still have our sale running with some great bargains to be had so next time you’re up, pop in and have a look!
Last week was a very stressful week for me as my Dad moved to China to work for 2 years so it’s been all go in my house! It was sad to see him go and I’ve now lost my golf, Argyle and drinking partner, but I wish him all the best with his new job. Whilst all this has been going on I’ve managed to work on my game a bit!
I had a lesson with Glenn last Tuesday and a few good practice sessions and started to see a good improvement, and I’m now feeling optimistic for the new season ahead! I’ve also joined a gym to work on my fitness and to hopefully turn my water pistols into real guns! Ha ha! But seriously, I’d recommend it too anyone and I’m hoping it will improve my golf! That’s all from me and will hopefully see you all at the weekend!
Regards,
Andy

| DELIVER MORE POWER BY IMPROVING YOUR BALANCE |
 |
|
Balance is the foundation of every good swing. If you maintain your balance you can deliver the club head to the ball with both speed and accuracy, lose it and your swing will lose its rhythm and its effectiveness (Try making a full swing standing on one leg and you’ll see what I mean).
How balanced you are depends how stable the connection is between your feet and the ground. That’s a combination of how well your feet fit into your shoes and the shoe’s ability to harness the lateral pressures generated by the ‘coiling’ movement of the swing, which shifts enormous forces backwards and forwards across the soles of the feet.
|
|
FootJoy’s four leading shoes – SYNR-G, FJ ICON, FJ SPORT and DryJoys - were ‘stability’ tested against other leading brands by an independent panel and were found to transfer the greatest amount of power through the swing. Click on the image above to learn more about my range of FootJoy shoes.

When the foot pivots it provides an intrinsic lateral movement that enables the hip to fully rotate around a fixed leg position. Better rotation means a better coil, which means more power delivered at impact. That means distance, but ONLY if the shoe is still effectively connected to the ground; and that requires a shoe that naturally flexes around the same axes as the foot inside it.
There’s more to choosing a golf shoe than just style and comfort. Your golf shoe needs to be stable AND flexible if you’re to harness the power of your body’s rotation and generate distance; shot after shot, round after round. Come and see me next time you’re in the shop and I’ll demonstrate the performance attributes of each FootJoy shoe and how it’s relevant to the needs of your swing.

| CLOTHING PREDICTIONS FOR 2010: PART 1 |
 |
|
The words “Golf” and “fashion” are far from synonymous, and there’s a good reason for this; traditional golfing styles that would be classified as suitable for use on the course have always been fairly ‘unique’ in nature; perfectly at home on the fairways and greens but noticeably ‘out of place’ everywhere else, leading to the creation of the notorious ‘golfer’ stereotype.
It’s my firm belief that this year’s golfing apparel will finally break that mould. Take a look at these new 2010 Spring/Summer designs and you’ll see that my optimism is well-founded!
